Revlon Lip Butters

IMG_0019I am now obsessed with these Revlon Lip Butters!  I bought Raspberry Pie first and then had to get more shades.

They apply like a lip balm, but have the color pay off of a lipstick or stain.  The creamy consistency helps keep lips moisturized and comfortable throughout the day.  However, since they tend to absorb into your lips and wear off, the color does not last very long.  Expect to reapply these products throughout the day.  But, they are super effortless to put on so it is no hassle to reapply and you shouldn’t even need a mirror since they glide on and blend easily.

Here are the colors I have: (left to right)

-Cotton Candy-This is the perfect pinky nude that you can wear everyday.

-Juicy Papaya-A light orange-y color that is perfect for spring and summer.

-Raspberry Pie-A berry tone that can build to a deep color for a more dramatic look.

-Candy Apple-This is a more orange-red that follows the recent orange lip runway trends.

4 Must-Haves for Flawless Prom Makeup

Since many of you are heading to prom this time of year I am recommending four affordable, drugstore makeup must-haves for flawless special event makeup.

IMG_0037

L’Oreal True Match Foundation for a flawless base.  Find the shade that best matches you and blend this foundation in to even out skin tone.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder for a shine-free complexion all night.  This powder is great for keeping oil at a minimum and will be handy when you work up a sweat dancing. I recommend the 001 Transparent shade because you can use a translucent powder to touch up throughout the night without creating a cake-face look.

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso for a gorgeous glow.  This blush is a beautiful shade that gives any complexion a nice flush.  Don’t forget blush when getting ready for a special event because it gives life to your face and makes you appear healthy and glowing.  Makeup with no blush looks washed out in pictures!

Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black for smudge proof definition. This is my favorite mascara for creating length and volume on your lashes.  Waterproof is essential so you don’t smudge it or sweat it off dancing.

Have fun!

OCC Lip Tar

IMG_0016Stay away if you have dry lips!

This lip tar is very thick and opaque.  When you put it on, it requires a lot of blending to get it to adhere and blend into your lips.  The color completely masks your natural lip color, but the consistency clings to every bit of dryness your lips may have.

I tried this product with no preparation and it did not apply easily.  It covered my lip color completely, but it was messy and made my lips look very dry and flaky.  On my second try, I had exfoliated and moisturized my lips completely prior to using it, but it still made my lips appear flaky.

I purchased mine in the shade Hush, because I thought it would be a good neutral color that I could get a lot of wear out of.  It definitely is a beautiful neutral shade, but the formula of the product is not worth the hassle.  For a similar effect with an easier application I would suggest Lime Crime lipstick in Babette.

I think this product is best for stage or photo shoot makeup or short wear.  It is hard to work with, but it definitely has amazing color payoff and is true to the color that it looks like in the tube.

Zoella’s Spring Makeup Look

Happy Easter! Here’s one of my favorite YouTube guru’s spring makeup routine! Zoella shows an easy fresh look. I’ve been lusting after the By Terry Ombre Blackstar Eyeshadows like she uses in the tutorial.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent

IMG_4127

I was skeptical to try this setting powder.  I tend to be a fan of BareMinerals powder foundation to set my liquid foundation.  Using both gets me a very full coverage effect.

As we are heading into warmer months I wanted a lighter option that would look more natural and effortless for the spring and summer.

I use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder over my holy grail L’Oreal True Match liquid foundation. The powder really does leave me looking matte all day and my foundation doesn’t break up until well into the evening.  Then I reapply the powder to my oily problem areas and extend the wear of my foundation.

Since it is a pressed, translucent powder, don’t expect it to take the place of a full coverage powder.

But, this is a great drugstore product and you can’t beat the price.  It retails for under $5.

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara

IMG_4130

Although I am quite upset that Clinique discontinued my two favorite eyeshadow shades, I have found a new product to love.

I’ve always used my regular mascara to cover both my top and bottom lashes with no problems.

But, I was curious to try the bottom lash mascara.  As it turns out the small wand makes it super easy to coat all my bottom lashes and separates them to give a full effect.

I wouldn’t say that this product is a must have since you can get the same effect with normal mascara.  But, at only $10 it’s a fun buy.
