Makeup Menu: Back to Basics

After recent dabblings in high-end bases (and a particularly long stint of loyalty to the Diorskin Nude BB Crème) I have regressed to some old favorites.

I was trying to find a new foundation that would look better than my L’Oreal True Match, but none have really passed the test. The Dior BB cream is still one that I reach for on certain occasions, but for coverage and reliability nothing beats my True Match. N1 really does match my complexion perfectly and blends beautifully with little effort. It is also quite easy to build up to a high coverage and blemishes disappear right away under this base.

For bronzer, Hoola is just the holy grail product. After using warmer toned bronzers for a while, I missed the versatility Hoola provides. It is a perfect contour shade. On my pale skin it is also a great all over bronzer when applied with a duo fiber brush to keep it from getting too dark.

For under eye concealer, the Maybelline Eraser had been my daily favorite, but when it started to run out and my under eye circles seemed to get darker, I switched back to the NYX HD Concealer. I have sung this product’s praises in the past because it actually comes in a shade light enough for me to highlight with! It does require blending out with a Beauty Blender to get a flawless look, but if you take the extra time the results are amazing. I love the full coverage and lightening effect it has on my under eyes.

Now that I have gone back to these basics I look in the mirror and wonder why I ever strayed.
