Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore

IMG_0691

Milani Baked Blushes are a thing of beauty. Their marbled look and textured shimmer make them the cheap version of the coveted Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes.

Luminoso has been a favorite of mine since I discovered it. I wasn’t sure which color to try next and then Mac’s Warm Soul had a spotlight moment on the interwebs. Berry Amore is supposedly a dupe for Warm Soul so I decided to try it out instead since it is the more affordable option.

CVS Makeup Haul

IMG_0686

I made a cheeky trip to CVS!

I had been hearing about the new Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara so I had to pick it up (Make sure you print off the $3 off manufacturers coupon you can find online so its only $5!).

Instead of going to Ulta to earn rewards points like I typically do for my drug store makeup splurges, I chose CVS because they carry Milani and I had to have another one of their Baked Blushes. Luminoso is amazing so I opted to try Berry Amore because Amelia Liana insisted it was a good dupe for Mac’s Warm Soul Mineralize Blush. I’ll report back on that.

As if I didn’t have enough Revlon Lip Butters. I had to try this color. I bought Crème Brulee, a very nude shade. It looked intimidating-ly brown in the tube, but I love the look it gives the lips.

More in depth reviews of all these products coming soon!

ELF Blush in Pink Passion

IMG_0304

Paying $3 for this blush, my expectations were not high.

But, I love me a hot pink blush, so I decided to test it out.

I was not disappointed.  I have worn it several times and it lasts very well and is actually quite pigmented. You literally only have to dip your brush in twice to get enough product to cover the entire cheek.  I am super impressed with the quality of this blush and would definitely purchase it again.

You can’t beat the price.

You can’t really beat the quality either.

Makeup of the Day: August 20th, 2014

Today’s makeup look was all about cool neutral colors since I was wearing sliver accessories.
I knew I wanted to used my Lorac Pro 2 Palette so I opted for Cool Gray in the crease, Silver on the lid and Snow as my highlight shade.
To compliment the silvery shades I used Rockateur blush by Benefit. It is a rose gold blush that has cool undertones with hints of gold to warm up the face.
Finally I went with Jennifer’s Nude from L’Oreal on the lips to complete the look.

Nars Sin Blush

IMG_4071

For you fair skinned readers this blush may look scary.  And it probably in no way looks like a blush appropriate for springtime.

I had that reaction when I saw this shade in person for the first time.  I investigated the shade solely because of Tanya Burr’s recommendation (you can find her YouTube channel here; it is my new obsession).

Being very fair-skinned myself, I am used to buying the lightest shade of foundation available and worrying that bright colors will be too overpowering in blushes and lip colors.  I was skeptical about this shade until I swatched it on my wrist.

First of all, it does not apply as dark as it appears in the compact.  This shade gorgeous.  With just the right amount of shimmer it makes your cheeks glow without looking glittery.  The deep purple shade actually gives fair skin a tanned effect.  Sin can be used as a year round shade, but I think it will work particularly well as a spring and summer blush.  Getting the sun-kissed look on your skin can be challenging, especially for fair skin.  Something about the color of this blush lets you achieve that look without the muddy look of a bronzer.  For me bronzers can look too dark if I am not careful.

My favorite way to wear this blush is with a very subtle contour.  I will buff bronzer with a big, fluffy brush into the hollows of cheeks and the outer edge of my forehead.  Then I dust Sin onto the apples of my cheeks and blend backwards towards my temples.  The result is a beautiful sun-kissed glow.

If you are fair I urge you to try some Sin.
