Purse Glosses. These are the lip products that will go with any look and you can apply easily without a mirror. I am guilty of keeping up to 10 lip products in my purse at a time so I can easily change my look at the drop of a hat, but the ones I tend to reach for most are the low maintenance, neutral, hydrating options. I’ve selected 3 of my tried and true favorites that look great even if your lips are dry or the rest of your makeup has gone wonky.
I was looking for a neutral lip liner that I could use on its own or under nude lip products and this one seemed to fit the bill.
It matches my natural lip color very closely and I have found that it works very well for defining my lip line with an untraceable color. It just makes my lips look more defined and no one can tell I am wearing anything on my lips.
Essentially it is my “your lips, but better” lip liner.
If you are interested in creating that super full, Kylie Jenner lip look, but aren’t confident with over lining your lips, I would recommend starting out with this liner. It is subtle enough that if you get carried away overdrawing the line you won’t end up looking like a clown.
I carry this everywhere with me now. It is always in my makeup bag and I love using it to line my lips when I want to look flawless, but like I wasn’t trying too hard.
This lipstick is scary. Just look at the dark purple packaging and deep purple bullet. I thought there would be no way that this lipstick was wearable for day or night. “Maybe just for Halloween,” I thought.
This lipstick is pink. Not purple.
I was so pleasantly surprised when I got this lipstick home and swatched it. Hunk is a bright, statement pink. Such a shade is not wearable for the daytime or the office, but for a fun night out this is just the ticket.
The formula of these lipsticks is very impressive. Since they are “Butter Lipsticks” they are very creamy and slightly shiny, but they also are very moisturizing on the lips and wear very well. When applying even this bright color I felt like I was slathering on a moisturizing balm. After just one swipe Hunk had covered my lips in the bright pink color. I was able to build it up even more dramatically with another layer, but overall the color pay-off was great.
NYX Angel Veil Primer is probably the most expensive NYX product I’ve seen on the shelves at $15.99. But, I was still impressed with it and would repurchase this primer for sure.
I have never been a primer-lover and I have never really found one that seemed to give any benefits worth lengthening my beauty routine for. But, I finally got my hands on this bad boy when my sister got me Angel Veil for my birthday (yay!).
After using this for a few weeks I really noticed a difference. First of all, my pores look smaller, which definitely never happens. At first I thought I was imagining it, but they definitely seem smaller especially on my nose. Second, this primer really keeps my makeup from looking oily through out the day. It doesn’t keep it matte for the entire day, but it does minimize the amount of oiliness that does happen and keeps it from happening as fast. It also has not broken me out like other primers that are very oily and slippery in texture.
I would consider this primer to be “skin perfecting” as it claims to be and it has definitely convinced me to add in a primer step to my makeup routine.
NYX prices are always convincing. For $5.99 this eye shadow seemed like a shimmery dream. Especially after seeing it used in a YouTube tutorial, I thought that it was going to be pigmented, shimmery and worth the price.
After trying to use it several times wet, dry, with a brush and with my fingers, there has just been no salvaging this shadow. I can barely get it to show up. I am usually not this disappointed with NYX.
For 6 bucks I would rather buy a Makeup Geek eye shadow.
