Purse Glosses. These are the lip products that will go with any look and you can apply easily without a mirror. I am guilty of keeping up to 10 lip products in my purse at a time so I can easily change my look at the drop of a hat, but the ones I tend to reach for most are the low maintenance, neutral, hydrating options. I’ve selected 3 of my tried and true favorites that look great even if your lips are dry or the rest of your makeup has gone wonky.
I had been hearing about the new Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara so I had to pick it up (Make sure you print off the $3 off manufacturers coupon you can find online so its only $5!).
Instead of going to Ulta to earn rewards points like I typically do for my drug store makeup splurges, I chose CVS because they carry Milani and I had to have another one of their Baked Blushes. Luminoso is amazing so I opted to try Berry Amore because Amelia Liana insisted it was a good dupe for Mac’s Warm Soul Mineralize Blush. I’ll report back on that.
As if I didn’t have enough Revlon Lip Butters. I had to try this color. I bought Crème Brulee, a very nude shade. It looked intimidating-ly brown in the tube, but I love the look it gives the lips.

Unexpectedly, Fig Jam has become a fall lipstick staple for me.
I typically love the red and berry hues that are ever popular in autumn, but for the office or school bright statement lips can be a little too much. Arguably red is classic and always appropriate, but if you’re scared to make such a bold statement in a conservative environment, Fig Jam may be your answer.
We all know my love for the Revlon Lip Butters and once again the formula and wearability of Fig Jam has me hooked. The lip butters deliver a sheer, but not too sheer, wash of color to the lips while keeping them hydrated. This is definitely one of the darker shades in the range, but you can still apply it confidently without a mirror and blend it in with your finger to sheer it out further if you prefer.
As an alternative to red and berry, Fig Jam is a brown shade with red undertones that make it very wearable. While it looks to be a super dark brown in the tube, it is in fact more of a red. Brown-y lipsticks are very trendy right now and while a full 90s brown lip may be a little much and definitely doesn’t flatter everyone, this Lip Butter can help you embrace the trend. It is neutral and in vogue for fall making it an effortless addition to your makeup bag.
– L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush: This product is BEAUTIFUL. Especially if you have blue or green eyes this metallic pink color will complement your eyes beautifully. I use my finger to apply it to my lids then blend it out with Makeup Geek eye shadow in Peach Smoothie on a fluffy brush.
You can apply these products on their own or with as much foundation and additional products as you like. I use this ensemble with my full face foundation routine, but you could just as easily use these three along with a BB cream for a lighter summer look.
–Bronzer– Bronzer is the classic makeup essential to give you that kissed-by-the-sun glow. Find one that suits your skin tone and has a slight shimmer to brighten up your complexion and give you a lit-from-within appearance.
–SPF Foundation-Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation is my current favorite summer foundation. With SPF 18 and a matte finish it is perfect for hotter weather. Not to mention its blends flawlessly into skin. But, if you have any dry patches I’d recommend L’Oreal True Match Foundation instead since it doesn’t cling to dryness as much.
–Bright Lip– Summer is the perfect time to play with bright lips. Everyone knows I am a huge fan of the Revlon Lip Butters and my new go-to shade is Sorbet. It gives a fun pop of hot pink and brightens everything up with some color.
–Setting Spray– NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray is my favorite product for summer. I wrote a rave review of it here. Essentially, it helps the pigments in your makeup last all day and prevents everything from melting away in the heat.
–Blotting Papers– These are in my handbag at all times. Instead of having to constantly cake on powder throughout the day to combat shine, these little blotting papers absorb oil and restore a matte finish to the face. There isn’t one particular brand I prefer and you can find them at any drug store; I picked mine up at Ulta.
