Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss Lipstick in 107

This lipstick isn’t new.  Every fall it seems the beauty bloggers of the world bring this product back up.

I wait anxiously for the weather to cool off so it is acceptable to wear this dark lip shade again.

There is a reason this lipstick is consistently popular in the fall.  It is creamy and doesn’t bleed or stain your face awkwardly.  We all know that is the biggest problem with wearing bold lips.  I think it is a very universal shade of red, but since it is slightly dark it has a blueish undertone that makes your teeth look whiter.  Whiter teeth flatters everyone.

I really do love the formula of this lipstick and the color is perfect if you want a bold, cold weather-appropriate lip color.

The Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss in 107 is a must-have for the fall.  And it’s only around five bucks.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara

Supposedly, Rimmel Lash Accelerator is an ideal mascara for your bottom lashes.  Well, that’s what I heard. The formula and brush would make it seem that that is true. It applies very evenly with no clumping and has a very wet formula as far as mascaras go.  It also keeps lashes soft to the touch and feels nourishing (although, who knows if it really does help your lashes grow, the jury is still out on that one).

I like a much more dramatic look for my eye lashes so I layered this under a few of my other mascaras to ensure I got the thickness, length and darkness I desired.  I was not expecting it to deliver the drama I wanted and it didn’t, but I was expecting it to work well for my bottom lashes.

It did apply very nicely to the bottom lashes; the brush shape was very conducive to coating all the small baby lashes.  I was happy with how it looked initially, but after wearing it all day, it smudged under my eye.

Smudging under the eye is probably the most unattractive makeup malfunction that can possibly happen.  In my opinion anyways.  I gave it a few chances and wore it on my bottom lashes for several days, but I was not impressed at all.  For almost $10, I was expecting higher quality.  I think I’ll spend a few more dollars and stick to my Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

I really grew to like this foundation.  Nothing has taken the place of my L’Oreal True Match, but for the summer I repeatedly opted for this foundation instead.

The color matched my summer skin well.  Which isn’t saying much considering its the lightest shade in the range…

But, it is slightly less pink than my True Match in N1 and ever so slightly darker.  Essentially, it has a little more yellow in it, which matched a faint tan perfectly.

At first it seemed to cling to my dry patches, but applying it with my beauty blender quickly solved that problem.  I appreciate that it allows for buildable coverage, much like L’Oreal True Match.  It lets you achieve full coverage with some layering and blending.

Now that my skin is back to its regular shade, this foundation is too dark and leaves and yellow/orange cast to my complexion (not to mention gives me the slight mask effect even when I blend it down my neck).  I still prefer L’Oreal True Match especially because of their huge range of shades that allow you to find a better match and complement the undertone of your skin.  True Match also seems to be more blendable and less prone to caking up, which is always good when you are trying to get complete coverage.

5 Summer Makeup Essentials

Bronzer– Bronzer is the classic makeup essential to give you that kissed-by-the-sun glow. Find one that suits your skin tone and has a slight shimmer to brighten up your complexion and give you a lit-from-within appearance.

SPF Foundation- Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation is my current favorite summer foundation.  With SPF 18 and a matte finish it is perfect for hotter weather.  Not to mention its blends flawlessly into skin. But, if you have any dry patches I’d recommend L’Oreal True Match Foundation instead since it doesn’t cling to dryness as much.

Bright Lip– Summer is the perfect time to play with bright lips. Everyone knows I am a huge fan of the Revlon Lip Butters and my new go-to shade is Sorbet. It gives a fun pop of hot pink and brightens everything up with some color.

Setting SprayNYX Matte Finish Setting Spray is my favorite product for summer. I wrote a rave review of it here. Essentially, it helps the pigments in your makeup last all day and prevents everything from melting away in the heat.

Blotting Papers– These are in my handbag at all times.  Instead of having to constantly cake on powder throughout the day to combat shine, these little blotting papers absorb oil and restore a matte finish to the face.  There isn’t one particular brand I prefer and you can find them at any drug store; I picked mine up at Ulta.
